Defense Firearm Training Academy is located at 11106 Hollowbrook Rd, Owings Mills, MD 21117, serving Maryland, United States.

The academy offers Wear and Carry, Wear and Carry Renewal, the Handgun Qualification License (HQL) course, HQL Renewal, and the NRA Basic Pistol course.

The Wear and Carry class is a 16-hour class and includes 1 hour of range time. The price is $250 plus a $35 range fee, and students bring 25 rounds of their own ammunition.

The Handgun Qualification License (HQL) program is a 4-hour class and includes 1 hour of range time. The price is $150 plus a $35 range fee. HQL Renewal is also $150 plus a $35 range fee.

Yes. The NRA Basic Pistol course is $250 plus a $35 range fee, and students should plan for 100 to 150 rounds of ammunition.

Yes. Instruction starts from the beginning, safe handling, grip, stance, sight alignment and trigger control, before any live fire on the range.

Safe handling and storage, pistol shooting fundamentals, carrying and drawing responsibly, Maryland firearm law, the defensive mindset, and supervised live fire.

NRA Instructor, NRA Qualified Range Safety Officer, and Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor.

Yes. You may bring your own pistol if you have one. If you do not, ask about options before class.

Bring 25 rounds for Wear and Carry, Wear and Carry Renewal, HQL and HQL Renewal. The NRA Basic Pistol course needs 100 to 150 rounds.

Yes. A $100 initial deposit secures your seat, and the balance is paid on the day of class.

You may cancel within 3 days of booking for a refund of your deposit. After 3 days the deposit is not refundable.
